Your numbers stay on your device.

What the app works with

To do its job, the app handles the following on your device only:

• Questions you type or speak to the assistant.
• Your calculations: the display, memory, stored registers, History and saved conversations.
• Your settings, such as style, appearance, sounds and haptics.
• Whether you've unlocked the assistant and Pro mode, as reported by the App Store.

Where it's processed

• Questions are read by Apple's on-device foundation model (part of Apple Intelligence) where your device supports it, or by a reader built into the app. Neither sends your question off the device.
• Speech is recognised with Apple's on-device speech recognition. The app uses the microphone only while you're dictating, and only with your permission.
• Numbers are worked out by the app's own code on the device.
• History and settings are stored in the app's private storage on your device. You can delete any item in History, or clear it all.

Apple services that may copy your data

These are features of iOS and iPadOS, controlled by you, that Emergent Equilibrium cannot access:

• iCloud Backup. If it's on, your device's backup can include the app's History and settings, stored in your own iCloud account. You can turn backup off for this app in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Backups.
• Universal Clipboard. Anything you copy may be available on your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
• App Store purchases. Apple handles payment. The app learns only whether the unlock is active; it keeps no record of the purchase.
• Diagnostics you share with Apple. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may give Emergent Equilibrium crash reports and aggregate usage statistics that don't identify you.

What isn't collected

The app does not collect, store on a server, sell or share personal data. It has no accounts, no advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, and no third-party analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs. The app's App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected."

Third parties

The app relies only on Apple: the App Store for purchases and, if you use them, iCloud services. If a future version adds Game Center or iCloud syncing for game modes, this policy will be updated before that version is released.

When we may disclose information

The only personal information we hold is email you send us and email signup addresses. We disclose it only when the law requires it (for example, a valid subpoena or court order); when it's needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or us, including to deal with fraud or security problems; or if Emergent Equilibrium LLC, or the part of it that publishes VECA, is merged, acquired or sold. This policy keeps applying to the information transferred unless you are told otherwise and given a choice.

This website

• Email signup. If you sign up on this website, your email address is held by our email provider (Kit). By default we use it to send one email when VECA launches. If you also tick the box for updates, we'll send occasional news about new features and tips. Signup uses double opt-in, and every email has an unsubscribe link. Ask us at privacy@vecacalculator.com and we'll delete your address.
• Analytics. The site uses no analytics.
• Hosting. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
• Cookies. The site sets no cookies.
• Do Not Track. Neither the site nor the app tracks you across other websites or apps, so there is nothing for a browser's Do Not Track signal to turn off. We treat every visitor the same whether or not the signal is sent.
• Tracking by third parties. We don't allow any third party to collect information about your activity on the site or in the app over time or across other websites or services.
• Links to other sites. This page links to other websites, such as Apple's. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS. Your app data stays in the app's own storage on your device, protected by iOS. No way of sending or storing information over the internet is completely secure, so we can't guarantee the security of what you send us; we keep it to the minimum described above.

If you're outside the United States

We are in the United States. If you email us or sign up from another country, your email address and message are received, stored and processed in the United States, by us and by our email providers. Privacy laws there may differ from, and may protect you less than, the laws where you live.

Children

The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The website's email signup is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has sent us personal information, for example by emailing us or signing up, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who thinks this has happened can write to privacy@vecacalculator.com.

Your choices and rights

Because the app keeps your data only on your device, you control it directly: delete items in History, or delete the app to remove everything it stored. For emails from us, you can unsubscribe at any time or ask us to delete your address. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal data we hold; write to privacy@vecacalculator.com.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. A change to what the app collects would be made before the version that does it is released.
