Questions
Getting started
How do I switch between Glass and Vintage?
Open Settings → Appearance → Style and pick one. Your number and everything you've stored come with you. Light and dark are under Settings → Appearance → Light or dark.
What's the difference between RPN and algebraic entry?
Algebraic works like most calculators: 3 + 4 = gives 7. RPN puts the numbers first and the operation after: 3 ENTER 4 + gives 7, with no equals key and no parentheses. RPN is in Vintage's Financial mode; switch with the ALG / RPN badge.
How do I clear registers?
On Vintage, g then CLx clears the financial registers (n, i, PV, PMT, FV and the cash flows); f then ⌫ clears storage registers 0 to 9; g then ⌫ clears the statistics. Clearing the display never touches stored values or History.
How do I reuse a value?
Every result is kept in History: tap one to put that number back on the display. In the assistant, tap the number on an answer card, or tap Use, to send it to the display; press and hold your question for Copy or Ask again.
Where are the scientific keys?
Turn your device sideways. Glass adds six columns of scientific keys; Vintage adds a row with sin, cos, tan, x³ and |x|. If nothing changes, turn off Portrait Orientation Lock in Control Center.
The assistant
What can the assistant do?
It reads a question in plain words, typed or spoken, and hands the values to the calculator: tips and percentages, unit conversions, arithmetic, mortgages, car loans and leases, credit card payoff, savings growth and goals, and drawdown. It also answers how-to questions about the app.
What does it decline, and why?
It gives numbers, not advice, so it declines "should I" questions and side-by-side comparisons. It works entirely on your device, so it can't look up live interest rates, exchange rates or stock prices. Loan answers leave out tax, insurance, PMI and fees. When it can't read a question, it says so and you can carry on with the keypad.
How do the free questions work?
Before you unlock, you can ask 5 questions free. A question the assistant can't answer doesn't count. The calculator itself is free for good.
Can I ask out loud?
Yes. Tap the mic in the ask field or the composer and speak. Speech is recognised on your device. Say the unit with each number, like "6.5 percent" and "30 years".
How do I fix a reading that's wrong?
Every answer shows how your question was read before anything is worked out. Tap Edit to change the reading's values, or tap a tag on the answer card to pick another value. A follow-up like "and at 6%?" changes just that value.
Does the AI do the math?
No. The on-device model only reads your words. Every number is worked out by the calculator's own code, the same code the keypad uses.
Devices
Which devices run the full assistant?
iPhone and iPad on iOS 26 and iPadOS 26. The full assistant uses Apple's on-device model, which runs on iPhone 15 Pro or later, and iPad with an M1 chip or later, with Apple Intelligence turned on. If the model is still downloading, the app switches over by itself when it's ready.
What do other devices get?
The whole calculator, both styles, and a built-in reader that handles clear questions with numbers and units. The math is identical either way. Settings → Nothing leaves your device says which reader is in use, and why.
Purchases
What's free, and what does the unlock add?
The download is free, and so is the calculator for good: standard and scientific keys, both styles, memory, History and every setting. A one-time unlock ($19.99) adds the assistant, its finance calculations, and Vintage's Financial mode with RPN and storage registers. There's no subscription and no account.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Settings and tap Restore purchase, signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with. Apple handles the payment; this app keeps no record of it.
